2008-03-31: IT job security plummets five times faster than nationwide average

Ouch! Seems that the IT career field is hurting worse than ever, at least according to this article:

“Job security for IT professionals plummeted more than 10% from January to February of this year, far surpassing the average job security declines seen nationwide in a rigorous analysis of U.S. employment patterns.”

At the same time, Microsoft is testifying before the US congress that there is a severe shortage of technology workers, and that congress need to double the cap on H1-B visas.

“Gates said that the shortage of trained scientists and engineers had grown so severe that it required a dramatic increase in the number of highly-skilled immigrants permitted to enter the country.”

Something is not adding up.
